Flora, fauna and climate
Zanzibar is known as spice island, but also as the home of the endangered red colobus monkey. Many beaches of the archipelago serve ocean turtles as hatcheries. In the village of nungwi the locals run a breeding station and sanctuary for ocean turtles.

The climate on the island is tropic. Throughout the year it is warm to hot with a high humidity. There is a big rainy season (Monsoon) from end of April to June. In November short showers may occur. January and february are the warmest months of the year, up to 38° during the day, but very rarely under 25° at night.
